Factual information dealing with women's health in the management of breast cancer.

Picture yourself sitting in a restaurant on a resort island, having lunch with your spouse and two other couples. Then within the next few months you receive a phone call from your friend, whom you had lunch with. He informs you his spouse is suffering from breast cancer.

At this point in time you start to realize how vulnerable you are. You have to think to your self, "thank god this isn’t my spouse!" You think how lucky you are everything in your life is going so well.

Then the news gets worse. The next time you talk to your friend he informs you the other women you had lunch with is also suffering from breast cancer. At this time you really start to appreciate how fortunate you are.

Then your wife has her first mammogram. At the young age of forty, she is also suffering from breast cancer. This kind of news is devastating! Three people that you know are all suffering with the same disease and diagnosed within a nine-month period.

Picture the entire scenario above happening to yourself. This is precisely the way it happened to my loving wife and myself. With the thought of losing my wife to a disease that takes so many lives, I propelled myself into finding true professional health care for my wife and started studying everything that I could to understand the effects and causes of cancer.

I have dedicated my life to health and well being.  My dedication is not to the health my wife, but also the health of mankind. So many choices we can make have a large impact on our health and well-being. We must remember to make clear choices concerning the best possible outcome in any situation. This is especially true concerning the treatment of cancer.

Cancer takes place when cells start to act differently than normal. They start growing, multiplying and spreading differently than other cells in the body. Keep in mind that these were normal cells to start.

What causes cancer? Seventy five percent of cancer can be attributed to lifestyle factors. Diet, smoking and consumption of alcohol can all contribute. Other risk factors include radiation exposure, hormonal imbalance, ultra violet light, pollution food additives, drugs and even infections.

Of all the risk factors diet may play the largest roll in the development of cancer. DNA damage to the cells from free radicals is to be the underlying cause in many types of cancer. This could trigger the altered behavior of the cells. Some would tell you modern medicine is treating the symptoms and not the underlying cause.

Chemical reactions take place within our body's at alarming speeds and these reactions rely heavily on enzymes that our body synthesizes. Some of these chemicals need to supplement in our diet. Our bodies simply cannot make them. In order for the cells to grow the way they should they need to have the proper nutrients in the first place. Some nutrients have a dramatic effect when it pertains to our health.

This is where we learn about orthomolecular nutrition. This concept is the art of feeding your body the proper nutrients so that every cell within your body will be filled with proper nutrition. Many of the things we ingest today are simply empty calories containing chemicals that our bodies were never designed to break down. These foods offer no nutritional value whatsoever.

In order for the cells in your body to turn out the way they were intended to we must give ourselves the proper nutrients. This would include the proper regime of vitamins and minerals.

We must remember when dealing with cancer we must remain calm and make intelligent choices that will greatly benefit the outcome. Some of the choices should include obtaining more than one pathology report. The facts are there are mistakes made within the pathology labs. This is where the specimen is looked at and the determination is made as to what type of cancer you are dealing with. This will  have an effect on the outcome.

Read ABC News article pertaining to misdiagnosing cancer.

There are many different types of cancer and what one sees under a microscope may look like something to one pathologist and something else to another. Making sure the pathologist has a good deal of experience with a type of cancer and he or she is correct about their determination will be a great first step. At this time you should be encouraged to get a second or even a third opinion from other pathologists. After all it will be the pathologist that provides cancer information to your doctor from the start. This information is all that is provided to your doctor to determine what they are dealing with. Make sure it’s correct.

One may wonder, how do I go about getting a second opinion? Here is a helpful link that will provide you with everything you need. Get second opinion

Modern medicine sees cancer as the enemy. They cut it out with surgery, burn it out with the use of radiation and even try to poison it with chemotherapy. All of these treatments can have a dramatic effect on the immune system.

Knowing all of the above to be true one must start making intelligent decisions concerning the treatments they receive. You will have to ask yourself the question. "Will this give me the best possible outcome"?

You must remember that you play a crucial role in giving your body all that is necessary to healing itself. Much of this should come from the use of proper nutrition. The cells inside your body are composed from many reactions. Proper nutrients are directly responsible for these reactions.

Modern medicine gives very little credit in the use of nutrition. The plain and simple fact is that they have very little training in nutrition. They are so busy learning how to become physicians they received very little if any nutritional training.

Doctors rely on the pharmaceutical industry; after all it’s that industry that encourages doctors to use their products to heal people. This is even true when it come to cancer treatment. These large corporations spend so many billions on research and development they may lose track of the fact that the human body was designed to heal itself.

Many of these drugs produce huge side effects. These side effects can further weaken immune system to the point of no return. Good nutrition, on the other hand, can play an important role in strengthening the already weakened immune system. Although the effects of vitamins and minerals are very safe when compared to pharmaceuticals one must be encouraged to consult with their physician as to their use.

The use of proper vitamins and minerals will give your body the right equipment to heal itself. This is what your body was designed to do. The proper use of nutrition can greatly impact the outcome pertaining to cancer treatment. There are scientific documents being published on a daily basis that reflect the use of nutrition to fight cancer. Many of these documents reflect the use of nutrition in lowering your chances of contracting certain cancers in the first place.

If you are suffering the effects of cancer you may want to contact a nutritional consultant. This will help educate you in the body’s nutritional needs. You should always discuss these options with your physician and be encouraged to play a larger role pertaining in giving your own body the correct nutrients to boost your immunity.

I saw this on a colleague's desk and thought I would pass it on to you, the reader. It simply states:

"Whether you’re bombarded with problems, responsibilities or even insurmountable hurdles, when looked at as a test you always have a chance to succeed, in the sense of rising above that which is challenging you. "
